It¹s only seven minutes on the local train (S-Bahn) from Hamburg¹s central station Hauptbahnhof to the park of the international garden show hamburg (igs 2013). The journey itself is already enjoyable: the route allows a good view of the port, crosses the Elbe and leads straight to Wilhelmsburg. Simply cross

A Quilt Made from 80 Imaginative Gardens
The extensive ground of the international garden show hamburg (igs 2013) opens up in front of the visitors as soon as they have passed the show’s main entrance near the local train station Wilhelmsburg. There are more than 80 gardens to be discovered: a quilt of artistically connected and colourful dots that cover the 100-hectare site like the American bed throw the bed. Get carried away – go on a journey! Welcome to the colourful world of the international garden show hamburg, the world’s largest display of plants and flowers in 2013!

In accordance with the slogan „Around the World in 80 Gardens“, individual gardens will need to be designed for the international garden show hamburg 2013. These 80 gardens are distributed across the exhibition areas of the seven „Worlds” of experience.

International Student Design Competition started!
The object of the competition is the landscape architectural design of one of ten gardens (there will be a total of 80 new gardens) belonging to the international garden show hamburg 2013. Students at an international university will develop a design for one of the gardens after the igs 2013 has assigned each university with a particular site. Each participating university will work on a different garden.
