"Green metropolitan cities - Offensive strategies in raising the quality of green open spaces”.

In times of recession and low financial and personal resources in cities we would like to discuss  the value of green infrastructure for the urban development in metropolitan cities.

What are new trends in green open space planning in other countries? How do other countries change the planning strategies in respect to the changing needs of the population?

How are the concepts of participatory design? What are the models in other countries for public participation in financing the building and maintenance of green open spaces? How do people raise money for their public parks?

What are the different ways in other countries to maintain the quality of green open spaces? Does the building of green open spaces raise the market value of properties?

In the changing landscape you have to consider ecological and hydrological dynamics, pollution and contamination, economic use, occupancy and abandonment of the site. How to design these parameters of sustainability?

Hamburg is regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. But how will it rank in the future? In order to hold off the competition it faces from other leading world regions, the city must continue to develop itself further. Hamburg aims to become one of the most attractive metropolises on an international level - exciting, bursting with life, green and safe, with a rich diversity of people, companies and ideas. Hamburg has creative plans and precise projects regarding its growth. The focus is on urban development, architecture and landscape architecture. In 2013 two big events are planned in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg: the building of a 250 acre “Stadtpark” with an international garden show as well as an International Building Exhibition.
